Small Red Damselfly - Ceriagrion tenellum
The nationally scarce Small Red Damselfly can still be found at both Bell Lake Marsh & Great Wheal Seton.
This Nationally Scarce species is similar in appearance to the much more common and widespread Large Red Damselfly. Although there is a slight difference in size, the easiest way to tell them apart is to look at the legs - Small Reds have red legs while Large Reds have black legs. The female may have varying amounts of black on the abdomen - in form Melanogastrum it is entirely black.
